I am Anne Ferguson, a candidate for the HOA Board of Directors. Since 2021, my husband Tim and I have been full time residents here at DWRM and we love living here. We have met many of you through the “Aged to Perfection Wine Club” where we both served on the board. I also enjoy being a member of one of the several Book Clubs in our community. I attend HOA board meetings regularly, in person where possible, and go to the monthly town halls whenever I can.
I interviewed for the Finance Committee in 2022 and was told I was well qualified for that assignment. Before I could serve on the committee, there was a change with the committee chair who I had interviewed with and subsequently the HOA board selected the committee members themselves. I did not hear back on my application after that.
Now I would like to put my life’s experience to work helping my fellow Del Webb residents by serving on the HOA Board.
I was raised and educated in the UK and moved to the United States in 1970, becoming a U.S. citizen in 1992. I spent several years working in Hollywood in the early 70s before moving to Guadalajara, Mexico, for five years.
In the early 1980s, my late husband and I settled in Southern California and started a computer software business focused on systems software for IBM midrange computers. Because the flagship product would take over a year to create, I developed our business plan and budget to secure, and keep, investors. Incidentally, these investors stayed with us until we sold the company in 2008.
Our primary products were database management systems and language processors (compilers). I guided the development, marketing and 24x7 customer support for our software, which was widely adopted by midrange platform users. I worked with our Intellectual Property attorneys to secure several U.S. patents for our inventions.
Over the years, the company expanded its development to include Microsoft Windows and Microsoft’s .NET Framework. By the time we sold the company, we had grown to 80 employees with offices in the U.S. and UK and distributors in 28 countries.
I became CEO of the company in 1995 and gained a wealth of experience running the business including all areas of finance, legal and regulatory considerations, personnel and marketing. I believe all of that experience will translate directly to being on the Board of our HOA, which is a $5 million business.
Along the way, I have been involved in a number of service and charitable organizations including Elf Louise in San Antonio, TX, a company dedicated to bringing holiday joy to children who would otherwise be unable to celebrate the holidays and Soroptimist International, a non-profit founded to give women opportunities in service organizations and CanTree charity, an organization dedicated to raising funds for meals that are distributed to those in need.
We have been very happy with our move to Del Webb. I have met and befriended many wonderful people in our community and enjoy the opportunity to participate in many wonderful activities.
